There is door-step skiing from practically wherever you stay ….down the Val Thorens valley is Les Menuires and the wonderful La Masse area or ski over to nearby Courchevel and Meribel. Most of the nursery slopes are close to the village centre making it perfect for beginners and families. In the evenings the resort comes alive with many bars, restaurants and night-clubs which make for a busy, yet relaxed atmosphere.

Après Ski: Val Thorens is a great resort for après ski. The Frog & Roast Beef claims to be the highest pub in Europe. Try the Red Fox and the Ski Rock Café for an excellent après ski atmosphere. Other good places include the Saloon and the Downunder bar,plus the Malaysia, for live music later on.

Activities: Excellent sports centre - tennis, squash, football, table-tennis, climbing, sauna, jacuzzi, gym, swimming-pool, volleyball, roller blading, bowling.

Eating Out: There are over 45 restaurants in Val Thorens ranging from simple crêperies to gourmet cuisine so there is something for all tastes and pockets. Try Le Galoubet for traditional French dishes, the Scapin Pub for pizza and pasta dishes and Chalet des Glaciers for gourmet cuisine

Other Amenities: Cinema, two exclusive shopping centres, a toboggan run in a natural 6km long valley (longest run in France).
