Spectacularly situated beneath the majestic Matterhorn, Zermatt is one of the top ski resorts in the world, with a huge ski area at high-altitude. On arrival, by train from the village of Täsch, you will find the vibrant village centre entirely car-free, with only electric taxis and horse drawn sleighs, and streets packed with beautiful shops and boutiques. The nightlife is lively and varied to suit all tastes. .

The Ski area of Zermatt is over 180 kms but with Zermatt’s Italian neighbour, Cervinia, it is an impressive 313 kms with many runs particularly suited to Intermediate and advanced skiers. Zermatt is known for its excellent mountain restaurants such as ‘Chez Vrony’ in the Sunnegga area.

Après Ski: Zermatt offers a great mix of sohistication and informal fun. The new Cervo at the base of the slopes is fun with live music..The Papperla bar rocks from tea-time and later try Elsie’s place, the bar Vernissage, the Village and the Pink Elephant for jazz. Later still, the Pollux and Alex discos and the Broken Barrel.

Activities: Seven public indoor swimming pools, curling, ice skating, bowling, indoor golf, indoor tennis and squash courts, fitness centre, solarium, heli-skiing, sleigh rides, paragliding.

Eating Out: Zermatt is well known for a vast array of fabulous restaurants with over 100 to choose from ranging from top quality haute cuisine to traditional Swiss food, Chinese, Japanese, Thai etc. Then there is the Brown Cow Snack Bar for great burgers, Stockhorn Grill or The Spaghetti Factory.
